Go back in time. Back to the garden. Experience the magic of creation, the wonder of nature, and the betrayal that destroyed it all.

Her arrival in Edinburgh had not been what Lilith had imagined. The plane was delayed, then rerouted, her luggage lost, and as the icing on the cake, her apartment would not be ready until later that afternoon, leaving her with several hours on her hands. She had magically located her luggage, but there were too many people around to summon it. Always keep the secret. The mortal Others cannot know of us and our powers, Lily.
And so, Lilith had taken refuge at the Starbucks. A few hours’ wait was, practically speaking, a mere blink of an eye in her world. Though Lilith would be the first to admit that patience did not easily co-exist with Lilith time.
She set her latte to the side — she never actually finished a cup of coffee, at least not while it was still hot or even warm — and reached into her messenger bag. While pulling out one of her most prized possessions, a journal that could channel her magic, she began to draw.
As her pen touched the blank pages of the journal, her strokes took on a life of their own. Lilith concentrated on the images as they flashed through her mind: a large acacia tree, a circle of thrones, columns with magical engravings, and flaming swords. A flood of emotions accompanied the images — pain, fear, loss, suffering, and loneliness. All these things were part of a past that Lilith St. Claire could not remember. More importantly, as she’d discovered over the years, there were parts of her past someone did not want her to remember.
Layers upon layers of magic shrouded her. It had taken over five years of careful study in secret to reach the bottom layer, only to hit a wall of dark magic. Her heart sank, remembering the last year as she’d tried to penetrate it. So many times, Lilith had almost lost herself to the temptation of the Shade as she’d battled to remove the spells attached to her body. Pushing the negative feelings aside, she turned her resolve on happier pursuits which often included collecting more evidence about her past.
Following the clues she had gathered over the years, Lilith had come to Scotland. Excited by her birthday and her arrival, Lilith tried to focus on the pages before her. Beautiful, scrolling runes adorned the edges of all the pages. Looking down at her work, Lilith saw the designs that had filled the journal while she’d been lost in her head. The images told a story, a tale told in unique cuneiforms, waiting to be deciphered. As she turned page after page, Lilith saw, in her own handwriting, ancient runes in the forms of spells she did not know.
Someday I am going to find a spell and undo what was done to me. I will remember. When I find them, and I will, they will pay, slowly and repeatedly for taking my past from me.

B.L. Marsh has been writing and telling stories her entire life.  She is a music teacher, guest lecturer and runs Master Classes.  Her academic research is focused on the L’homme arme tradition, the Dead Sea Scrolls, chant transmission in the Medieval and Renaissance, and Gnostic and Kabbalah history.  Her passion for spirituality, mythology and developing her relationship with God are parts of her Rule of Life.  In her reading of the Bible and other extra-biblical texts however, she began to daydream about the characters, about how life was back then, and how cool it would have been to walk in the Garden with God.  Her stories weave a new mythology revolving around Genesis.   When she is not writing or teaching, she spends her days hanging out with five of the coolest boys on the planet and at night can be found doing completely ridiculous things like reading Joseph Campbell and Jane Austin and watching the same 3 movies on TV.
